"In all branches of Sacred Science the time has come to examine, through study and prayer, the area in which God and the Cosmos come together."

                                                A Critical Need

Planetization grounds us in the Planetary/Cosmic dimension of our existence. At first glance this might seem a rather peripheral matter. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most important advance in human thinking, most people would probably rate developing this felt sense that we're on our Earth, in the Cosmos as maybe a 2 or a 3.. Most folks would probably agree that such an expanded spatial grounding might help us be a bit more mindful that 'We Are the World', as the song goes. It might make us more conscious of our need to maintain the well-being of 'Spaceship Earth' for our own sakes. Few at first glance though, would consider this more expanded spatial orientation a top priority. But in truth there's nothing so critical not only for our continuing evolution - but for our very survival - than expanding our spatial grounding in this way.

"The question of all questions for humanity, the problem which lies behind all others and is more interesting than any of them is that determination of man's place in Nature and his relation to the Cosmos."

                                                                                 Thomas Huxley

This expansion of our orientational referents within Space (and to a lesser extent Time) to include the next higher order of magnitude of space we exist within; won't come about just by reading the material up on this website, or any other material now cropping up with greater frequency on the subject of Planetization. It's more like a gradual awakening, a slow, dawning realization that comes about after familiarizing oneself with the concept and all its implications. As you begin to contemplate the many facets of Planetization and all it encompasses; slowly and gradually the higher order truth it contains will become self-evident.

""Seeing" in the traditional perspective is understanding the totality of one's universe. But, such an understanding does not occur immediately with realization. Patience is a part of the "seeing" or the way in which Indian people think about such things... Sometimes, this realization takes several minutes, days, or even years."

The Great Awakening

Once you have a firm grasp of the more expanded perspective of Planetization and in your own mind can contrast it with the more limited spatial orientation that characterizes our current sense of non-local space, (an arbitrary, somewhat fluid hodge-podge of Nation States), you'll see clearly how these two paradigms represent not only two mutually exclusive worldviews - but that one of them, Planetization; amounts to nothing less than a total transformation in our thinking. This is the great hope that Teilhard de Chardin envisioned when he first intuited the evolutionary impulse, Cosmic in scope, that he called Planetization. When you can imagine in your mind's eye holding our present non-local spatial orientation in one hand - and the more evolved spatial orientation of Planetization in the other - the true power and significance of this radical shift in perspective will become self-evident to you. It will become as self-evident to you then, as you might now unthinkingly answer the question "Where are you... Do you know where you are..?" by rattling off the name of whatever village, city or borough… or Nation State you happen to be in.

"The great superiority over Primitive Man which we have acquired and which will be enhanced by our descendants... is in the realm of self-knowledge, in our growing capacity to situate ourselves in space and time, to the point of becoming conscious of our place and responsibility in relation to the Universe."

                                          Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Striking At the Root

All our efforts to bring about environmental sustainability, social justice and peace are doomed to failure if we don't strike at the root of these problems. Putting all our hopes in compassionate conservatism, free market liberalism, grassroots activism, environmentalism, or any other 'ism' won't bring about the deeper transformation in human thinking that alone can solve these problems.

"For every thousand individuals who are cutting off the branches of evil, there is but one striking at its very root."

                                                     Henry David Thoreau
